Crossing the Pond Day 3
Woke up around 03:00am to find Lester and Angela with flying fish in a bucket, turns out these little acrobats launched themselves through a tiny bathroom hatch 😂 out of everywhere these little buggers could have gone they found their way into a tiny space on the only boat in hundreds of nautical miles.
The Marine fish circus continued as Makyla came on shift and a squid managed to get himself on to the top deck, leaving behind an artwork done in black ink. Bet Lester wished they would jump on his chokka boat this easily.
This morning Lester found that the port sheet (rope) for the kite aka "Mr Oxley" was damaged, as it had been chafing against the jack stay. Needless to say, that if we wanted to continue flying with Mr Oxley, the guys would have to change the sheet. That worked out simpler than we thought. As we hoisted him back up in to the air, we noticed a nice little tear, and the decision was made that we would continue to fly him as is, while keeping a watchful eye should the battle scare get any worse. WE know we will be bringing him down a little later as the wind is going to change, so this will be our opportunity to do the necessary repairs.
The last thing we want is to be without our Mr Oxley as when we have wind from behind, and a mild breeze like the 7 knots we have currently, he is the only thing that stands between us and using the dreaded motors.
Since we left Port Owen a month ago already, the last of the fresh food that I had provisioned from there, needs to get used, so it was smoothies for breakfast and apple pie after dinner, if you can't eat it fresh you may as well eat it sweet. As wastage out here is not an option. Fortunately, I did restock with a few fresher items to last us, so we will certainly not starve.

It's been a pretty chilled day and uneventful, besides the fish and spinnaker story, there is not much else to report.
Have an awesome evening everyone wherever you are in the world.
Oh my shits, just as I said not much to report chaos raised its salty head😳
The kite had to come down as the wind started picking up and it needs to come down before apparent wind gets to 15 knots, when it came down to change the sheet earlier, we used a little piece of duct tape on the zipper of the ballon, to repair a very tiny tear. Taking down the kite this evening the duct tape decided to rebel......it came loose and stuck onto everything except for where it should have and caused havoc.😡 All the while the guys are wrestling with the Mr Oxley, the ever-increasing wind speed and rogue piece of duct tape
Meanwhile I am at the helm releasing sheets for them and getting my nickers in a serious knot, we are rolling around, duct tape playing silly buggers, wind speed increasing and the guys are both on the bow without life jackets. Come on guys seriously safety first chaos second..........GRRRRRRR
After that little show, it was time to repair Mr Oxley's wounds, outside was nost an option as the wind was too much, so we had to bring him inside and he took over the entire space and you realize just how large he really is.
Angela is sitting outside and using her sowing skills to repair the damaged zipper so that we can avoid the drama of duct tape, thank heavens she took charge of that as I am really not much of a seamstress.
Thankfully Eric had bought some special tape to repair sails, after a littel struggle to ensure everything sticks in the correct place he was all bandaged up and ready to fly.
