Idiot Alert: This is a crime gone hysterically wrong.

After a wonderful day out in São Paulo, we had to take a short walk to the outskirts of the city to get our Uber back to the hotel, bellies full and ready for a nice afternoon nap.

Eric standing on the curb, on crutches, mobile phone in hand ordering the uber, well what do you know, some oxygen thief on wheels, comes zipping past, attempts to snatch Eric's phone out of his hand. He really tried to rob a man on crutches...........I mean really the guy had ONE JOB!

Unfortunately the oxygen thief was not ready for the SADAS (South African Danger Alert System ) 😂 Despite being on crutches apparently Eric is still faster than the average phone thief in São Paulo, certainly faster than this one on his bicycle.

Well did the show begin, Eric absolutely loses his shit, as everything starts to turn into a one man action movie, screaming down the street like a madman who just broke out of an asylum, mid meds. His choice of words, a bilingual masterpiece of Afrikaans profanity and English rage, the hand gestures were certainly oscar worthy 😂

Now fuelled with a combination of rage and adrenaline, Eric lifts his crutch into the air like a medieval knight preparing for battle and starts to take off down the road, yes the same man that just had surgery on his foot a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, I'm standing there, dying of laughter, attempting to convince him that chasing down a criminal post surgery is not recommended by any medical professional. There I am crying from laughter so clearly he is not taking me very seriously, I am really watching this grown man trying to chase down the world most incompetent phone snatcher. I really do know Eric is not going to get far with that foot. 😜 Seriously this thief could not even steel from someone with a disability, I think he needs a new job.

That folks is how our day ended, happily in our Uber with our cell phones going for that nap. 😂

Now onto some fun facts about the city of São Paulo.

We did some rather extensive walking around the city and it truly is a hustle and bustle of activity and so many people, with the most magnificent street art absolutely everywhere. This city has a population of more than 22 million people, which is just insane because once upon a time it was a tiny village, but today this city is alive with everything cosmopolitan the world has to offer, the sky line is adorned with skyscrapers as far as the eye can see. One certainly notices that mass amount of humans that this city holds.

Brazil is home to the largest Japanese population outside of Japan, it is also has the most Lebanese outside of the Middle East. In fact there are at least 6 million people of Lebanese ancestry which is double the population of Lebanon.

In the early 1900's Brazil also had the most German schools, of the 900 German schools in the entire world at that time, Brazil had 600 of them.
