Day 2 Fair Winds & Following Seas

Its day 2 back at sea, after a relatively easy departure from St Helena Island yesterday, as we got out of the anchorage, we had the trade winds right on our stern and of course up went Mr Oxley. Cruising along at a beautiful 7 knots, with perfect seas and wind, as the afternoon progressed the wind started to pick up and was consistently bouncing between 15 & 18 knots. As I may have mentioned before we can only use the kite when we have 15 knots apparent wind speed and below, because firstly when the wind is too strong it becomes near impossible to pull down and has the risk of ripping not to mention it would also make us go too fast.

Well I can say with confidence that the guys have now mastered the art of getting him both up and down, it appears so easy now. Not too long ago it was always a huge effort and a hassle, but now we got it nailed down to a fine art, between the google sailor and practice it has become simple.

Out came the genoa and so the night continued with beautiful trade winds and following seas.

Now I truly understand the term "fair winds and following seas" I always heard this saying but never truly understood it until recently, Mother Nature is delivering this beautifully.

All through the day today we had consistent wind, the temperature both night and day feels the same, never cold and never hot just perfect.

That being said the cabins get rather warm at night, we have hatches open but somehow enough air just never gets through.

We did have the usual sea sick monster appear, but it disappeared pretty quickly this time, which is a huge relief.
